Phew, everything you will read here is 100% legal. Since the easing up of the law, the products of this mysterious molecule, known to be relaxing, is developing on the cosmetics shelves as well as in trendy bars and restaurants. We are sharing the info.

CBD, a very positive molecule

To avoid any misunderstanding, just remember that cannabis, also called hemp is a plant comprising a great number of substances, amongst which CBD and THC.

With its psychotropic effects, THC makes you high. Catalogued amongst narcotics, it remains illegal. However, CBD, named the molecule of happiness, presents no danger of toxicity nor addiction. It does have anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-pain and anxiolytic properties. In short, le CBD calms and soothes while THC produces excitement and anguish.

And what about marijuana in all this? This is another plant, in the same family as hemp much richer in THC (an average 5 to 20% against 0,2% for hemp legally  cultivated in France). So now you are aware of the theory, lets get down to practice.

An evening at Rehab, the first CBD cocktails bar in France

This very special speakeasy has settled inside the Hôtel Normandy, in the chic districts of Saint-Honoré. Hidden behind a mirrored door of the restaurant Le Comptoir du Chantier, the secret bar reproduces the transgressive and low key atmosphere of opium dens at the beginning of the 20th century—a cute wink to the place’s past...

But today, no more green fairy and little, if none at all, alcohol in the glasses.  CBD is replacing spirits in certain cocktails, created specially by two former buddies of Mezcaleria. Example? Kombucha, cucumber, falernum (green lemon, almond, spices) and CBD. “You start feeling the effects after the second glass,” launches Marlow, the head barman. Advantage, after an evening at Rehab, you go right to sleep and avoid nasty hangover effects the next day.

Open Tuesday to Saturday from 6pm until 2am. Cocktails €14-16

Hotel Normandy, 254, Rue Saint Honoré 75001 Paris
