Your Ultimate Paris Weekend Program

© Géraldine Martens
It’s going to be a packed weekend! The Do It Team has found the best activities for its favorite readers to make the most of it. Mark your calendars: the coolest dinner of your life at Rivages, celebrating Chinese New Year without leaving Paris at the Musée Guimet, tasting the best crêpes in Paris, hunting for treasures at Boom Boom Villette, and the last days to admire the exhibition on fools at the Louvre.

Book the Coolest Dinner of the Moment

This is the sexiest dinner right now, perfect for a large table of 6 to 8 people. Hidden at the back of our favorite restaurant Rivages at Sofitel Le Scribe Paris Opéra, a charming room now hosts highly exclusive dinners combining the talents of Chef Martin Simolka and Head Bartender Roberto Catalano. Once a month on Fridays (the grand premiere will take place this January 31!), the two accomplices prepare an exceptional four-hands dinner right before your eyes, lasting approximately 2h30 (€150 per guest). While Martin presents his dishes, Roberto, stationed at the other end of the table, creates signature cocktails paired to enhance the flavors of the meal.

On the menu of this wildly chic and delightful six-course meal: a spectacular beef tartare, a white pearl oyster with passion fruit lemon granita, and scallops with hazelnut condiment, among other delicious and colorful surprises we’ll keep secret for now. The fun part: Roberto shares his best Parisian addresses for finding the rare spirits he uses in his concoctions. Their infectious camaraderie puts the whole table in an incredibly joyful mood, making the evening feel like an intimate gourmet dinner at home. This is an experience to share with your favorite food-loving crew.

Rivages Supper Club, launching on January 31, then every first Friday of the month at 7:30 PM. Reservations only on thefork.fr. Restaurant Rivages at Sofitel Le Scribe Paris Opéra, 1 rue Scribe, Paris 9e.

Celebrate Chinese New Year Without Leaving the City

Who better than the Musée Guimet to offer the best Asian cultural experience in honor of Chinese New Year? This weekend, the museum becomes the place to be for full immersion in the festivities. On the agenda: the Lion Dance performance will take place on Saturday, February 1, in the Khmer Courtyard. Free and open to all, this event features a troupe of performers dressed in lion costumes, reenacting this famous traditional dance, mimicking the movements of the mythical creature.

A literary discussion around the book "Une année en Chine" will liven up your Sunday, February 2, at 3 PM, in the Chinese Decorative Arts Hall on the second floor. For children, a multi-sensory storytelling tour called "Legends of the Lunar New Year" takes place on Saturday, February 1, at 11 AM. Lasting 1h30, this activity is designed for kids aged 8 and up, whether solo or with family, recounting the traditional legends of this important East Asian family celebration.

For gourmet enthusiasts, the "Chinese Art of Tea" workshop will be held on Saturday, February 1, and Sunday, February 2, at 2 PM and 4 PM (€18, available via online ticketing). Additionally, the exhibition dedicated to Tang Dynasty China remains open to visitors. A must-see!

Indulge in a Crêpe Feast for La Chandeleur

On February 2, it’s official: forget your resolutions and give in to the frenzy of La Chandeleur. If this tradition weren’t already a delight in itself, it now becomes the best excuse for a crêpe feast. And since Paris never does things halfway, the best addresses are competing to take our crêpes to the next level. Here’s where to enjoy them in style!

For a chic experience, head to Jeffrey Cagnes, where aumônière-style crêpes take on a haute couture look. From January 31 to February 4, savor his new collection: chocolate-caramel (our favorite), vanilla-praline, or exotic, at €7.50 per piece.

Aumônière Crêpes by Jeffrey Cagnes. Available in-store from January 31 to February 4. Locations: 24, rue des Moines, Paris 17; 73 rue Montorgueil, Paris 2e; 11, rue Henri Barbusse, 92300 Levallois-Perret, and Cupra City Garage at 1 boulevard de la Madeleine, Paris 1er.

At La Tour d’Argent, a true ritual awaits: the Mademoiselle crêpes, meticulously prepared before your eyes and served in a jar, are bathed in a divine blend of Grand Marnier, Cointreau, and Mandarine Impériale. For the little ones, a visit to Le Triporteur on February 5 is a must, where fresh crêpes and sweets will be offered to children.

At Hôtel Rochechouart, you don’t just get an ordinary crêpe—you indulge in the sweet masterpiece that has all the gourmets buzzing: the legendary crêpe cake (€14 per slice). Stacked in ultra-soft layers and covered in silky crème anglaise, these crêpes are the signature dessert of Chef Freddy Israël. This kitchen magician revives our childhood memories with a nostalgic treat that is totally guilt-free. Spoiler: all of Paris is hooked.

Lose Your Mind at the Louvre

Fool, jester, joker… we all have a vivid image of madness (think Heath Ledger’s ultra-sexy Joker). The figure of the fool has been deeply subversive since the Middle Ages! Often linked to carnival celebrations, fools were known for their striped, colorful costumes and jingling bells. By the 19th century, the fool became a symbol of political and artistic revolutions. Quite the résumé!

Since last October, the Musée du Louvre has been exploring the representations of the fool throughout history. The exhibition features 300 works, including sculptures, art objects, drawings, paintings, and even tapestries! Highlights include a painting of a fool in colorful costume peeking through his fingers and an ornate metal helmet with a jester’s face and horns that once belonged to Henry VIII. This fascinating journey won’t last much longer—the exhibition ends on February 3 after undeniable success. Don’t hesitate, head to the Napoleon Hall of Paris’ greatest museum to admire these incredible works.

Figures of the Fool: From the Middle Ages to the Romantics, Musée du Louvre, Paris 1er. Until February 3.

Visit the Most Beautiful Apartment in Paris

What if, this weekend, you could visit the most stunning apartment in Paris? The meeting point is set at Boulevard Raspail, where the association Cosmos and Matter, dedicated to sustainable design, has transformed a gorgeous Haussmannian space with moldings and parquet into a showcase of works by 100% sustainable artists and designers. Sip the Ephemeral Cocktail by Marin Montagut

Our favorite artist, Marin Montagut, never ceases to surprise us. After getting Parisians addicted to his decorations, beautiful objects, and gifts adorned with his sublime illustrations, the most desirable designer of the moment unveils a crazy collaboration with the Hôtel Grand Mazarin. The journey begins on rue de la Verrerie, admiring the enchanting shop windows decorated by Marin, surrounding a life-sized tarot that’s Instagrammable by default.

We warm up inside at the Grand Mazarin bar (one of our favorite hotel bars in Paris), where we settle in with our date to order the new signature cocktail specially created for this unprecedented collaboration. Specifically: a “sophisticated version of the margarita” enhanced with mezcal, which adds smoky notes and a certain strength to this all-orange love potion, served in an adorable little stemmed glass (€18).

The Extra Thing : We accompany this author’s drink with snacks worthy of the coolest spots in Tel Aviv. Challah to dip in a cream/tomato duo (€10), a trio of white tarama, pink tarama, coral sea urchin tarama with their toasted challah bread (€23), or Romanian mushroom and parmesan polenta (€19).

Taste Mauro Colagreco’s Pot-au-Feu

The pot-au-feu, the ultimate symbol of peasant cuisine, could it be the next trendy dish? That’s our bet. Proof: Mauro Colagreco, chef and owner of the 3-star Mirazur restaurant in Menton, unveils a wildly desirable version of it in his other restaurant, GrandCœur (one of our favorite spots in Paris), nestled in the Marais. Lunch and dinner, every day of the week and weekend, it’s time to settle in and order his latest creation: the sexiest pot-au-feu of your life (€45), served in the extraordinary setting of this new-gen brasserie with high beams and exposed stone walls.

Of course, Mauro Colagreco’s two-course version adds Mediterranean touches to this ancestral recipe. Check it out: set the mood with a perfectly concentrated vegetable consommé with vermicelli, accompanied by bone marrow spread delicately on a garlic and rosemary toast. Then the pot-au-feu arrives, majestic, in its large cast iron pot. While the stewed beef is adorned with a green parsley sauce, colorful pickles bring a welcome acidity, alongside particularly flavorful sauces and condiments, the signature of this Argentinian chef. In short: a deliciously comforting option, perfect for big gatherings of friends.

The extra touch : the special attention paid to the tableware for this decidedly Instagrammable pot-au-feu. Special mention for the mismatched, vintage soup tureens and serving dishes that give the impression of being invited to a chic country house.

Restaurant GrandCœur, 41 rue du Temple, Paris 4th. Open from Monday to Sunday from 12pm to 2:30pm and from 7:15pm to 10:30pm.

Learn the Art of Felted Figurines

If you hate seeing your little ones glued to their tablets, whisk them away to Yu-Ching’s workshop. On the menu: discovering the art of felted wool. You’ll be able to create your own adorable figurine with just the strength and dexterity of your hands!

Upon arrival, the artist presents her workshop and tools, then introduces the themes for the little creations: forest animals, dinosaurs, culinary temptations... You’ll learn the basics of needle felting (don’t worry, the needle doesn’t hurt—it’s used to shape the wool!) to craft your personalized figurine. Have fun mixing colors to make a funky bird, muffin, or dino. The best part? You’ll take your creation home, along with the know-how. It’s the perfect plan to occupy those rainy afternoons and build your army of felted wool figurines!

The extra touch : if your artistic endeavors leave you hungry, we’ve got the perfect snack! Head over to Sürpriz to bite into a mouth-watering kebab packed with meat from Mehmet, the best butcher in Berlin, whose meat is coveted by all kebab vendors.

Customize your dishes DIY style

Our favorite for the weekend: a ceramic painting workshop to keep your little ones busy! Head over to Céramicafé Geneviève in the 11th arrondissement for a 100% creative experience. Choose from a bowl, cup, or plate as the canvas for your masterpiece. Geneviève, the ceramic expert, will demonstrate various painting techniques and guide you through the process to ensure your designs are as realistic and beautiful as possible.

At the end of the workshop, your creations will head to the 1,000-degree kiln! You'll need to be patient though: your artwork will be ready for pickup in a week, perfect for showing off at grandma's house!

Bonus : After the workshop, visit Pépite, the amazing bakery in the Faidherbe area. We highly recommend their Cookie Ball for €3.70 – a little bomb of deliciousness!
