« Love story » escapade one hour out of Paris

Le Jardin Des Plumes

To put a bad week behind you and relax in a lush flowered environment without going to the end of the world, here is a terrific address in Giverny.

This super romantic spot is the new address of Eric Guérin, the talented star chef of La Mare aux Oiseaux, who let himself be taken by the charms of this blue half-timbered house dating back to the early part of last century and who has made it into a real jewel

The decor gets 5 stars right from the start, with a 30’s inspiration, punctuated by contemporary art. All in all, eight rooms including four suites, located in the main house or the annex, with more pop colors.

We love: the stunning decor of the restaurant: large bay windows diving onto the garden, white leather and peacock blue wall, glass cages to accentuate transparencies and chandeliers in Murano glass feathers …

Food galore: Joackim Salliot interprets with style Eric Guérin’s recipes that are an ode to the Normandy tonalities. It’s a bewitching tasting experience: pressed foie gras with Cajun nuts, tangy baby tomato, crunchy radishes and bread dried with basil, chicken Vallée d’Auge or filet of sole, asparagus and sautéed chard, grilled polenta and cream of asparagus with coriander…and hop, straight to paradise with the hazelnut tart and the frozen Calvados soufflé!

So chic, finally, the bar with its freestone wall, its zinc… with mirrors and its striped floor in different shades of blue. Blue… And why not a Blue Lagoon at cocktail hour?

For a stroll: there is obviously the Museum of Impressionism, the Claude Monet Foundation with the painter’s house and his amazing gardens—and of course the original Water Lilies…
