Swimming in Paris, a dream project Parisians have been hearing about for quite some time... Bingo! City Hall has declared swimming season open since the 18th of July with three large basins right near République. Verdict: your new HQ for summer.
Everybody is talking about it, but concretely, how does it work? The rendezvous is taken at the Bassin de la Villette, (metros Riquet or Laumière), right near MK2 Quai de Seine. First tip: arrive (very) early, before the opening, and avoid rush hour—check out the application Affluences to find out the hours and the frequentation of the basins.
And after? You can change in the available locker rooms, like small beach huts, immediately set your towel on a deck chair and choose amongst the three huge basins: a paddling pool for kids, an average-sized basin and a 2-meter-deep basin where you can swim laps.
We adore: the holiday sensation as soon as you hit the water, super clean with an ideal temperature (around V23°). And with the small seaweed that sometimes tickle your feet, you will surely enjoy the change of scenery.
Small tips for moms: take advantage of your child’s swimming wings to take a dip in the large basin—much calmer.
Bathing area located on the Quai de la Loire, on the Left Bank of the Bassin de la Villette, downstream from the Passerelle de la Moselle. Free entrance. Open from the 18th of July to 30th of August from 11am to 9pm. Plan a one-euro coin for the locker.
