As hallucinating as this vision may be, authentic Kazakh yourtes will be set up all weekend long on the mythical Place du Palais Royal. A real clash of cultures.
Freshly arrived from Astana (the capital of Kazakhstan for geography dummies), the village, comprising four nomadic tents, is set up between the Louvre and the Conseil d’Etat. You can even go inside!
The decor is rather unusual for these ancestors of the mobile-home, usually planted in the middle of the wild steppe and transported from place to place by camel or horseback!
We like: participating in the jewelry and pottery workshops to discover the craftsmanship of this intriguing people from Central Asia.
Kazakh village from Friday 31 October to 2 November 2014, from 10am to 7pm, Place du Palais Royal (75001) Paris.
