Three New Sizzling Hot Spots!

The flame returns to Paris with these new restaurants set to ignite our appetites in the heart of this freezing winter! Japanese, Korean, and South American flavors are on the menu at these fiery and flamboyant spots. Get ready—it’s going to heat up!

Benihana: The Hottest Spot

The Story: Founded in New York by Hiroaki Aoki in the 1960s and since becoming the world icon of teppanyaki with over 100 establishments in 17 countries, Benihana has finally arrived in Paris! Like Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio, we fell in love with this Japanese concept offering spectacular cooking on a blazing plancha, performed by chefs who master both knives and flames. Show time!

The Location: Situated in the Palais-Royal neighborhood near the Comédie-Française, Benihana has gone all out. Two levels, two vibes. On the ground floor, a calm mood with minimalist decor: walls with gold cracks (a nod to kintsugi), wooden tables, and a long marble counter. Here, cocktails and sushi take center stage on a tantalizing menu. Upstairs: the heart and soul of Benihana with the teppanyaki kitchen. Large marble tables for eight guests await their private chef. Once everyone is seated and orders are placed, the music turns up, and the chefs take the stage—the show begins!

The Menu: Before the plancha heats up, start with some sushi. The flamed salmon California rolls (€25 for 8 pieces) and the bergamot tuna maki (€18 for 6 pieces) were delightful. For a hearty appetite, add the divine shrimp tempura (€11 for 3 pieces), but save room for the main event—it’s generous! Choose from signature teppanyaki menus combining meat and fish (€66–€125) or focused menus (meat, seafood, or vegetarian) starting at €40. Each menu comes with a fresh ginger salad, a shrimp starter, grilled vegetables, and egg fried rice. Highlights from the night: a dreamy wagyu beef filet tender as marshmallow, half a lobster tail with a subtle flavor, and black cod elevated by a miso marinade. Add to that flying knives, dancing flames, and a chef’s precise movements with spatulas, blades, and ingredients handled with flair. The legend of Benihana lives up to its promise. Truly impressive.

The Tip: Try the express teppanyaki lunch menu available Monday to Friday: €45 for the traditional menu, €43 for the vegetarian option.

Benihana, 163 rue Saint-Honoré, Paris 1er. 01 86 04 06 44.

ON: The Grill Master

The Story: Linda Lee is unstoppable! Known as the Queen of K-Food, this successful entrepreneur started 20 years ago in London and introduced us to On the Bab in Paris. She has expanded her culinary empire with must-visit spots like Misu, MariMari, and the remarkable Sétopa, the hit of 2024. Now, she’s back with a brand-new Korean barbecue spot that will warm your hearts!

The Location: Head to rue Saint-Roch, where ON, Linda Lee’s fifth restaurant, has opened. The intimate ambiance is bathed in soft lighting, with polished decor featuring walnut wood walls, elegant banquettes, and lush greenery, creating a chic bistro vibe. At the center of each table is the famous grill, complete with an ultra-modern ventilation system that absorbs odors—a little luxury that keeps your clothes smell-free!

The Menu: Start with delicate appetizers that mix original flavors. Try the Haemul Pajeon, a Korean seafood and spring onion pancake (€17), steamed dumplings with shrimp, tofu, and egg (€14), or the Yukhoe (beef tartare with pear, leek, seaweed, and pine nuts, €17). Then, move to the BBQ with perfectly marinated meats (the secret to great flavor) served with salad, sauces, banchan, and Guélanjjim (steamed eggs), ready to grill in front of you. Opt for a mix of meats: comforting pork belly (€22), exquisite soy-marinated beef with mushrooms (€23), and the must-try spicy chicken (€22)! For dessert, choose the chestnut mochi (€7) and buckwheat tea (€6)—perfection.

ON, 39 rue Saint-Roch, Paris 1er. Open Monday to Saturday, 12:00–14:30 and 18:00–22:30.

Casa Mikuna: The Most Braised

The Story: Amaury Dumont and Thomas Ferdant, founders of Mikuna Group, already satisfied our craving for exotic food with their street food spots in Sentier and rue Miromesnil. They thrilled us this summer with Terraza Mikuna, a tapas and cocktail bar perched on the BHV Marais rooftop. This winter, they’re back with a new, fiery restaurant in the 9th arrondissement: bienvenido a Casa Mikuna!

The Location: In a clever mix of colors and textures, the decor of Casa Mikuna, designed by interior architect Louis Denavaut, references the studios of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera with a suspended wooden ceiling, mineral furniture, lush greenery, and warm orange lighting. It’s a direct flight to Mexico, with a vibrant atmosphere enhanced by a curated music program and DJ sets on Fridays and Saturdays. Note for later: an adorable terrace perfect for spring sunshine.

The Menu: Stop by the bar before sitting down to enjoy a glass of Chilean wine or one of the house’s delicious cocktails. The signature “Casa Mikuna” cocktail (spicy and bold) combines Volcán de mi Tierra tequila, chili, mezcal, and grapefruit soda (€15). At the table, share the sinful guacamole prepared tableside, paired with homemade corn tortillas (€10). Turn up the heat with cheddar-stuffed jalapeños (€11), and continue with flambéed salmon tacos (€4.50 each). For mains, the charcoal-grilled Argentine beef, served finely sliced with three sauces (chimichurri, chipotle, tacquera) and playful patatas bravas (€35), is a must. Seafood lovers should go for the grilled prawns (€17). For dessert, the Dulce Mikuna with meringue, passion yuzu cream, and coconut ice cream (€11) is a sweet hug to end the meal.

Casa Mikuna, 53 rue du Faubourg Poissonnière, Paris 9e. 01 42 26 16 92. Open Monday to Friday, 11:30–14:30 and 18:00–00:00; Saturday, 12:00–15:00 and 18:00–01:00; Sunday, 12:00–15:00.
