Luckily, mountains and ski resorts are not just about cheese raclette, fondue and tartiflettes party ops.
But it’s hard to imagine that one could just schuss right off the slopes into a marvelous restaurant 2 Michelin macaroons.
It’s on the slopes of Val Thorens that Jean Sulpice, a true culinary hero and his wife, champion of great wine selection, decided to set up their magical restaurant. Imagine yourself tasting one of the best cuisines in the view with a view on snow-capped peaks, in a cozy but no frills decor after having glided in from a powdery slope!
A little gourmet excstasy on the program. Our favorite menu? L’oxalys, at 115€. Velvety chestnut soup, seared parmesan and grated truffles, scallops in a frothy mix of parsley-chives and lemon caviar. Of course, « the » cheese platter before the chocolate: ganache with citrus fruit, millefeuilles with sesame and cloud of Chartreuse
We just love: going there on skis! The way? Directly take the «Pluviomètre » run or «Plein Sud» heading for «Le Cairn». From Val Thorens, take the « Plein Sud » chairlift or « 3 Vallées 1 » and hook up to the «Pluviomètre » or« Plein Sud » slopes in the direction of « le Cairn ». The restaurant is after the skier bridge on the left.
