Mathis, the coolest hangout of the moment for nighowls

The intimate interior of mathis

Well, if there is a cool spot to name-drop right now, that immediately places you way up there as part of the hip gang—it’s Mathis. And Mathis is quite a story.

Once upon a time there was a historical “lair” for Parisian night owls, that was a fave hangout of the brainy-glam Gotha from Beigbeder to Sagan including Carla Bruni, Audrey Marnay or Saint Laurent, under the aegis of night time MC: Gérald Nanty.

And only the gang from Expérimental (Oliver Bon et Pierre Charles Cros) was able to relaunch this cult address and covey a new hypetude status to the only really festive rendezvous in the Golden Triangle.

On the left, a small super chic and intimate dining room where you can run into real Parisians around an elegant and delicious dinner: carpaccio of raw scallops, sensual (26€), jumbo shrimp to dip in mayo (22€), free range Bresse chicken (26€) with mashed potatoes or mushrooms. Yum. To be enjoyed with a glass of Fixin (top Burgundy (12€) and a Hugo & Victor chocolate tart—you will be in heaven.

On the right, the mythical “cocotte” decor of this furiously select bar has not changed one bit. Aside from the fact that they now serve love potions by the kings of mixology. Particularly their Ode to love: with gin ( 15€) or Bonjour Ivresse with Lillet Armagnac and Japanese liqueur (17€).

Every day from 6pm to 2am.
