Forget the canteen vibe of other Kapunka restaurants! The latest address from the group, nestled on Rue de Paradis in the heart of the vibrant 10th arrondissement, has donned its finest attire by enlisting the interior architecture studio Lizée Hugot to handle the decor. Now under the guidance of Laurent Casanovas, already at the helm of Maison Lautrec and Django Pigalle, Maison Kapunka asserts itself with beautiful elegance. The same mood carries over to the cuisine, where dishes flirt with the gastronomic register and multiply flavors through small plates meant for sharing. Everything we love!
A cozy and serene bistro
Lacquered midnight blue walls, bamboo curtains, green plants, soft lighting: Maison Kapunka creates a cozy and enveloping atmosphere where it's pleasant to retreat. Its large stainless steel and wood counter imposes itself majestically, a perfect introduction to settling in for a drink. The dining room offers several options for seating: intimate alcoves, comfortable banquettes, or tables facing the street-side windows, the best option for lunch to soak up plenty of light. In the evening? Opt for the table at the back offering a full view of the entire space.
A Thai feast to share!
Start by sipping on one of the delicious signature cocktails to set the mood: the Tuk Tuk (rum sour, orange liqueur, lime, and orgeat syrup) brought us joy! ($12). Then, have placed in the center of the table the delicious crispy eggplants drizzled with ginger virgin sauce and burnt lemon mayo ($8), a refreshing crudo of lean fish with hibiscus vinaigrette ($14), and add a small marinated egg with mustard pickles ($8).
Another cocktail for a break or a homemade Thai lemonade ($6)? Those familiar with Kapunka's establishments will be delighted to find the excellent house green vegetable curry on the menu, truly bombastic ($14). Others can confidently opt for the crispy chicken with lemon yogurt sauce ($14). Beef team? The Hot Tiger's Tears will make you smile ($18). For the grand finale, treat yourself to the ultimate indulgence by diving your spoons into the crazy chocolate ganache, coconut cream, spicy caramel, and puffed rice chips ($8).
Note: the menu offers a fine selection of natural wines (starting from $8 per glass).
Open Tuesday to Saturday for lunch and dinner.
