It’s an institution, a monument of Italian street food. Have you heard of the piadina? This typical snack from Emilia-Romagna, a sort of folded disk of dough filled with charcuterie, cheese, and fresh vegetables, has existed since Antiquity and is traditionally enjoyed on the beautiful beaches of Rimini. A true delight to savor at the Parisian locations of La Piadineria: you’re going to love it.
BENVENUTI ALLA PIADINERIA
It’s simple, we’re talking about the best piadine in Paris. In the Latin Quarter or the Champs-Élysées roundabout (and soon in La Défense, stay tuned), La Piadineria, which already has more than 400 locations in Italy, aims to make its addictive specialty your next lunchtime obsession, whether you dine in or take out.
The kitchen is buzzing. The dough balls come fresh directly from the headquarters in Italy, then passed through a roller to create galettes cooked to order on special plates. They are filled to order with prosciutto, formaggio, tomatoes, and other delights straight from the Boot. Don’t look for cutlery: in Italy, the piadina is eaten with hands, served in its paper. Please respect the traditions...
Among our favorite recipes: La Leggenda, as enjoyed on the Italian coasts with raw ham, devilishly runny squacquerone cheese, and arugula (€7.90), La Sportiva in a limited summer edition with bresaola, avocado, grilled zucchini, tomatoes, artichoke sauce, and lettuce (€9.50), and La Pistacchiosa, our favorite with mortadella Bologna IGP, burrata stracciatella, salted pistachio sauce, and lettuce, a marvel (€9.50). Pair it with a must-have Chinotto, the divine citrus soda almost impossible to find in Paris (€3).
DESSERT BOMBS
Because good news never comes alone, we continue with sweet piadine with Nutella (to sound Italian, you can even say at the register “Alla Nutella”) or pistachio spread, mmmmh (€3.20). Ultimate treat: an affogato with Italian ice cream to coat an ideally flavored Lavazza coffee (€2.90).
