In Chinese culture, the color red is meant to bring happiness. It’s this ancestral belief that inspired the series of photos exhibited at the CFOC, the trendy concept store of Sarah Lavoine.
Sandra Matamoros, a young French artist, captured details during the Chinese New Year’s parade in the streets of Paris : the nape of a pretty girl, the head of a folksy dragon, images of men, women, imaginary monsters.
The ten photos presented are tinted with a bright red, a purple filter that operates like a revelator of image expression. The wealth of these focuses ? They unveil in turn other details that tell more stories.
