We have fond memories of Balagan, on Rue d’Alger, where all of Paris’s Israeli elite gathered to enjoy an electrifying service, rolling out sharing plates in a chic banquet spirit. The iconic table of Assaf Granit recently transformed under the name Kapara, ensuring an electrified atmosphere every evening, the prettiest girls in Paris, the Parisian Jewish community at full throttle, and all the socialites crazy about sun-drenched dishes. The ultimate pleasure? Booking its brand-new Sunday brunch, obviously as copious as one could wish...
The brunch of joy
A hangover, a long coat, designer sneakers, and go: head to Kapara to join the party. Here, the whole staff beams with a huge smile, hums, and shares their pleasure of being part of this joyful crew. It must be said that in the kitchen, chef Zohar Sasson sets the rhythm, making the mezzés swing like no one else, escorted by her brigade, which can be admired from the open kitchen.
They start by placing, without plates and directly on the table, a parade of playful starters. It’s hard to know where to begin between the corn to dip in a gorgonzola aioli, the pastrami, the spinach - feta - egg puff pastries, the stuffed vine leaves, or the fattoush salad. Triple yum: the best tahini of your life to spread on slices of hallah bread, mmmh... The only thing left is to choose your main course between an enormous hallah sandwich filled with schnitzel, eggplants, matbucha, and cilantro, a Fish Kebab with fish shawarma, semolina, carrots, chickpeas, and cumin, unless you prefer the veggie option: green shakshuka, poached egg, Comté cheese.
If, however, you manage to save room for dessert, the buffet is packed with sweet delights like pretty fruit salads, grilled pomelos, orange cakes, chocolate mousse, carrot cake, and fresh yogurts to top with dried fruits and honey.
€72 per adult, €35 for children under 12, free for little gluttons under 5. Single service from 12 PM to 3 PM. Reservations recommended.
