Far from mega aseptic chains or district holes-in-the-wall, Saint-Lazare was seriously in need of a real comfy Parisian hotel. This is when Belleval steps in. Inaugurated last April, this charming 4 star attracts as many tourists as it does the fashion fauna of surrounding houses. Care for a visit?
A bucolic universe
Starting in the lobby, the spirit is directly expressed with the remains of the former Haussmanian building hallway, so very chic. In the back of the courtyard, a giant and bucolic fresco by street artist Gola Hundun imposes an Insta story while the flowery carpet and the paintings in the corridors recall the fanciful universe of Dolce & Gabbana. In the bedrooms, midnight blue walls are an echo to the charm of vintage objects such as a wood swing and industrial luminaries..
Typically Parisian rooms
The handsome bathrooms with ca cement tiles and wooden ladders to hang fluffy towers, and the XXL bedding from which it is quasi impossible to escape, once inside. No need to anyways, thanks to the selection of good books on hand, against the headboard.
Foodie or not foodie
On the left of the entrance, the healthy restaurant very twig-compatible (avocado toast €15, buddha bowl €15, pumpkin soup €8) cultivates a small obsession for madeleines, a cute wink to the imposing nearby church: comté cheese/regional ham, chicken/pimento of Espelette, orange blossom.
On the right, the wild cocktails bar (special kudos for the Rosemary Tonic with gin and cucumber, €12) becomes a breakfast buffet, classic and varied. Tip: get there early for a maximum of choice.
To be noted
In the vaulted underground cellar hides a brand new fitted spa with an ultra-modern gym to practice yoga or a little bit of boxing, before seeking comfort in the sauna. When do we go back?
Rooms starting at €250 per night, breakfast included.
