Chloë Grace Moretz as an irresistible rebel teenager

Come As You Are

An intelligent film on teenage desires with a delicious Chloë Grace Moretz in the leading role, are you tempted ? Bingo, we have what you need ! Playing the part of a young lesbian sent to a special camp, the pretty blonde from the Kick ass series explodes on the screen. Here are the good reasons to watch Come as you are.

A radiant young actress

At only 21-years-old, Chloë Grace Moretz is way up there. Surprised in the arms of her girlfriend Coley by her boyfriend, Cameron (Chloë Moretz), a young orphan and homosexual girl is sent by her aunt to God’s Promise, an isolated establishment at the heart of the Pennsylvania Rockies. The goal of the centre ? Putting back « lost souls » on the right track (understand: transforming homosexuals into heterosexuals) . There, Cameron meets a second comprehensive family with Jane the loud mouth, Mark the introvert and Adam the tender one. Why did the actress accept this role ? Because with two gay brothers, she wanted to give the LGBTQ a voice.

Teenagers with overwhelming desires

The film takes place in 1993, but the young of yesterday are still in the running. By presenting a panel of teenagers filled with doubt and forced to learn self-hate by denying their desires, American-Iranian film director Desiree Akhavan, herself openly bisexual, intelligently tackles a subject rarely present in the world of cinema. Adapted from the cult book by Emily M. Danforth, The Miseducation of Cameron Post, the film draws its inspiration from a real story and strongly denounces the persecution of homosexuals. Clap. Clap.

Verdict

Rush to see this film if you want to understand (or discover) the absurdity of conversion therapies still applied in certain circles and that try to make homosexuels believe they are sick. The intelligence of the characters, the talent of the young actress and the refinement of the script is a moving ode to the freedom of identity. In short, no reason not to run to the cinema!
