Do you love Italy, electro music, history, art, and sports? Then you're going to love Maravigghia. This festival, conceived by the young Sicilian entrepreneur Antonio Milioti, offers a series of unprecedented experiences to discover the treasures of this island... while partying! The 2023 edition kicked off in June in Sciacca with an unforgettable DJ set at the privately booked Temple of Selinunte (we were there!). Next up, two other events that are at the top of the must-do list this summer for partying in Sicily with your group of friends. Here, we'll tell you everything you need to know.
Maravigghia, meaning "marvelous" in English,
Driven by Antonio Milioti's love for his native Sicily, Maravigghia made a remarkable entrance with its first stop in Sciacca last June: three unforgettable days filled with discoveries and magic, culminating in a memorable and ultra-private party amidst the Greek columns of the Selinunte archaeological park overlooking the sea.
At sunset, a guided tour in a park closed to the public, followed by a party under the stars and the full moon, with exhilarating DJ sets featuring local and international artists (Stephan Jolk, Gabdez, Lollino) who set the magnificent dance floor on fire. The experience was fabulous, with Sicilian-flavored dishes satisfying appetites and fine wine quenching thirst!
One of the highlights is the emphasis on Sicilian history and culture in each edition, showcased through private guided tours of its heritage sites, contemporary art installations and performances, sports sessions with Nike Trainers Italia, project partners, and a curated musical lineup featuring both international and local artists. Each edition offers a unique program.
The Perfect Hotel to Book
For the ultimate indulgence, we recommend booking a stay at the Torre del Barone Hotel, a member of the Mangia's group and a partner of Maravigghia. Relaxation takes center stage during your stay, with access to the hotel's private beach, pool, spa, and four restaurants. You can also enjoy outdoor yoga and fitness classes each morning facing the sea.
We particularly loved the touch of contemporary art with the installation "Diving in the Green" by Italian artist Francesca Pasquali. This on-site artwork creates a labyrinth of greenery made from filaments of plastic fibers, which you pass through each morning on your way to breakfast in the famous tower of the hotel, overlooking the sea. It's truly a dream-like experience!
Mark your calendars!
The next Maravigghia events will take place in Palermo from July 14th to 16th, coinciding with the celebration of Santa Rosalia, the patron saint of the city. This edition will feature, among other things, a spectacular dinner on the terraces of a former aristocratic palace and a unique evening at the Orto Botanico (starting from €90 per person for the evening).
Then, from August 3rd to 6th, Maravigghia will set sail to the island of Faravigna, one of the most beautiful islands in Sicily, for the final stage of this 2023 edition, which promises even more surprises, including the works of artist Diego Miguel Mirabella...
