Once upon a time there was an itsy-bitsy bikini, born in 5 July 1946, designed by stylist Louis Réard, who sparked the scandal by calling it "bikini" in reference to the island in the Pacific where the Americans were making nuclear tests. Shocking: the small triangle produced the same effect on conservative French beaches. It’s only in 1968 and with the yéyé fad that it really became a beach star. Rendezvous in the Marais for one of the hottest exhibitions on this long-lasting accomplice.
Through the maze of Galerie Joseph, it’s Marilyn Monroe, Brigitte Bardot, Elizabeth Taylor or Ava Gardner who tell us the story of this sexy ally.
Cool: early bikini models are on display making us feel like stepping back in time. Hurray for the Sixties
Don’t miss: the projections of the first bikini runway shows at the super instagrammable Piscine Molitor.
From the 5th of July to the 30th of August 2016
