Take an independent art gallery, add a restaurant with neo-Asian influences and you get a winning « düo ». Because this new hybrid place, located in the very trendy Oberkampf district, is sending foodistas in the know as well as twigs on a diet and fans of contemporary arts in a tizzy.
This über cool place, with a squat underground look, combines an exhibition space dedicated mainly to photography with works by your up and artists with an arty bookshop corner and a truly gourmet healthy cantina.
In the kitchen, Maori Murota, the Japanese chef, concocts a daily menu inspired by products from the market, displayed on a a wall slate. As starter (for us a perfectly seasoned chicken soup with coconut and lemon grass) and a choice between two dishes, including a veggie option, as the pork in ginger sauce or the sautéed eggplant and broccoli with miso, to make everyone happy. Ultra healthy dishes with an easy-going sophistication.
And for the final touch? Ultra light vegetarian desserts because without any dairy products (no eggs, no butter) such as the banana cake, caramel apple tart or the brownie that also comes with cherries, real killers, we’re telling you!
We like: the behind the scenes story since the düo is really a trio composed of Etienne and Aymeric, two contemporary photo fans and Olga, the German element who added the umlaut to düo.
The plus : in the evening, lunch dishes turn into small happy hour portions (count between 4,5 and 8 €) and nibble while sipping a nice glass of wine (count 4 €).
Lunch formulas: dish 12 €, starter+dish 15 €, starter+dish+dessert 18 €
Open Tuesday to Saturday from 12pm to 10pm and on Sunday from 12pm pm to 5pm. Closed on Sunday.
