You surely know Merci, the must-visit Parisian concept store established in 2009 on Boulevard Beaumarchais. A temple of design, fashion, and creativity, Merci has become a cult address that, just as its creators Bernard and Marie-France Cohen – founders of Bonpoint – intended, attracts all kinds of people, of all ages and from all backgrounds. Its motto? Hybridization, both in its diverse selection and in the composition of the space itself, which brings together a store, café, canteen, cinema, and vegetable garden over 1,500 m². Scoop! Merci is opening a new boutique stretching lengthwise between Rue Richelieu and Rue Molière.
The temple of gifts
Merci#2 takes up residence in a former post office completely renovated into a lifestyle boutique. After tearing down the false ceiling to reveal a huge period glass roof, the space was decorated by artists and designers: Sarah Espeute, Jo Nagasaka, Emma Jaegger, Piet Hein Eek. If the first location is a house, the second is meant to be an industrial New York-style loft, blending a kitchen area, bedroom, dressing room, and even a bathroom.
On the agenda: the mythical red car, the brand’s signature, cut in half and displayed on the wall this time (the first location made it its symbol, parked in its cobblestone courtyard), two floors, and an infinity of possibilities. Stationery, tableware, clothing, jewelry, decor, accessories, bedding, and beauty products dazzle us, and we leave with gifts filling our pockets. Because this chic bazaar is THE spot to find a gift that will make an impression before a birthday, no matter the budget: whether gifting a stunning jewelry piece, a quality clothing item, a beautiful book, or a fun gadget.
On our wishlist: love at first sight for the vegetable candles, fried egg or butter pat (starting at €19), the 100% linen bedding sets (€390), the magnificent quirky ceramics (cup at €21.50 and bowl at €47), a heart top (€80), the Mimétique beauty products (starting at €44), and the Doré facial ice roller (€48). Finally, we’re swooning over the Candides, Merci’s iconic tote bags.
The extra touch: right now, a market corner is dedicated to Erewhon, the luxury supermarket that’s a hit in L.A., impossible to find in France. Here, you can shop stylish clothes or bulk foods, just like in a faux market!
