Betrayal, one of the strongest texts by British playwriter Sir Harold Pinter (The Birthday Party, The Caretaker) opens a series of honorary spectacles at the Lucernaire celebrating the ten years of his death. This play features an exquisite love triangle that places the woman at the center of all the attentions.
On stage: two years after breaking up, Emma receives the visit of her former lover Jerry. In fact, he has remained good friends with her husband. But why did they break up? Through the stunning flashbacks, spanning several years, the initial fireworks are retraced, the unspoken acceptance by the husband himself (no fool at all), and mostly the great whirlwind of lies, confessions and treasons. Mesmerizing.
We like: the intelligence of the text (funny and terrible) that winds up the time machines and makes this double love story as spicy as an episode of Gossip Girls. Special kudos to the husband played by François Feroleto (current husband of Valérie Karsenti in real life), with a hypnotic diction. To go see very quickly before the last performance on the 18th of March!
Trahisons by Harold Pinter, until 18th of March 2018. Tuesday to Saturday at 7pm, on Sunday at 4pm. Info and reservations on www.lucernaire.fr.
