Bacha: a coffee shop worthy of the 1,001 nights

Globetrotters know well the cult addresses of Bacha Coffee, and notably its historic coffee house opened in Marrakech in 1910. After having welcomed all the passing artists and politicians, this high place of Moroccan lifestyle inaugurates a setting worthy of a palace of a thousand wonders right at the bottom of the Champs-Élysées. An elegant curiosity to visit urgently.

An extraordinary boutique

Moroccan hospitality starts right at the entrance with the XXL boutique, where one already imagines grabbing gift ideas of the best effect. Here are proposed no less than 200 coffees from 35 different origins, in beans or ground on site with 7 levels of grinding according to your machine (starting from €40 for 250g in a tin, sachets from €11.50). Special mention also for the gift boxes to compose yourself, the pretty cups and saucers (€29), the scented candle Song of Saba (€52) or even the silver measuring spoon (€14), the crystallized sugar sticks (€11) and the vanilla pods to grind (€34).

Coffee lounge

It took at least the refinement of Bacha Coffee to raise the level of the bars and cafés around the Rond Point des Champs-Élysées. Joy: the fine palates of the neighborhood finally have their HQ and rush from the morning to grab their excellence coffee to go (€6.50) and their croissant filled with crème brûlée, chocolate and coffee, pistachio or even raspberry and lychee (€3). Upstairs, one settles from breakfast to cocktail hour (last order at 9:30 p.m.) in one of the lounges richly decorated with carved wood, checkerboard tiling and chandeliers galore.

Cool at lunch: the set menu at €28 including a French toast with chicken, cheddar and jalapeño peppers, a gourmet croissant + a slice of cake (yum: the coffee one to dip in a coffee jelly) and, highlight of the show, a coffee generously served in a golden gooseneck kettle. One chooses it for example flavored with orange or pistachio and, once poured into the cup, it is topped with exquisite homemade whipped cream, raw sugar grains and bits of fresh vanilla pods that one grinds like in a pepper grinder. More chic, you die...

Open every day from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
