Les Héritières: the social fresco that makes the buzz on Arte

Les Heritieres

Nolwenn Lemesle's new fiction ( Des Morceaux de moi ) is a hit on Arte . From Saint-Denis to the upscale Parisian districts, discover the fate of Sanou, a teenager from 93 who finds herself propelled into the beautiful Parisian districts.

If you liked… Les Misérables by Ladj Ly and Divines by Houda Benyamina , social chronicles on suburban youth pushed to overcome their poverty.

Pitch. Sanou, a 15-year-old high school student, lives in a sensitive area of 93 with her parents and four siblings. An excellent student, she left her college to join the prestigious Henri IV school . The only black student in her class and isolated by her condition, she must quickly find a place for herself. The only solution to be integrated? The lie. Between the long journeys by RER and the ambient cacophony at home, the ambitious teenager struggles to concentrate on her lessons. Phew: in exchange for a scholarship and a student room (release!), Her CPE offers her to be the tutor of Khady, a student from her former college, more passionate about breakdance and her friends than about lessons mathematics. Between them, they find the strength to aim much higher than their destiny imposed on them.

Its cool potential. All That Glitters had already popularized the genre. Real bridge between two worlds that everything opposes, the new social fresco of Nolwenn Lemesle ( Des Morceaux de moi) is based on a fresh cast of young actresses that we feel really involved. Of course, Tracy Gotoas impresses in the sneakers of the brilliant Sanou, when Fanta Kebe (spotted by the realist in You Prefer ) secures a promising career. We also find Déborah François ( Popular with Romain Duris) in a devoted CPE, proving that confirmed actresses and the young guard of French cinema go hand in hand on the small screen. A story of emancipation through education in the vein of L'Esquive , inspiring and filled with hope. Finally, to highlight: the soundtrack signed Ronan Maillard , road musician (composer of the film A Good Man selected in Cannes in 2020) which won the prize for best original music at the Luchon festival rewarding the best TV creations.
