When you leave Le Journal de Mickey comic strip in the hands of a contemporary artist, the result will be a series of works exposed in « the » Parisian gallery that counts.
Since the 80’s, Bertand Lavier ( a major French artists who showed last hear at the Pompidou Center) reproduces in life size decors of Mickey’s life, like canvases that the most famous mouse in the world could admire in an imaginary museum during one of his adventures.
These images taken from the cult comic strip are then covered with heavy coats of paint in the Van Gogh vein.
We like: real works whose origin stems from fictional pieces imagined by Walt Disney.
