19M is the address incubated by Maison Chanel between Paris and Aubervilliers which offers an exhibition event until May 7 to be booked urgently within its Gallery. At the heart of this multidisciplinary cultural space, a project: to illuminate and promote the know-how of craftsmen and creators.
19 … like the district where this place is located, between Paris and Aubervilliers, but also Gabrielle Chanel's favorite number.
M … for Craftsmanship . Hands . Fashion . Manufactures . Houses. So many values and symbols that translate the DNA of this new Parisian meeting place for creation.
An architectural work by Rudy Ricciotti
A real incipit on the origin of the place, the exhibition introduces the design of the architecture of the building, a jewel designed by Rudy Ricciotti . Sketches, photos, plans, models: this is the story of the construction of a Parisian monument that takes shape and unfolds over the course of this journey in a scenography entrusted to Gala Espel , a graduate of the Camondo school .
“ The 19M is an ambitious project as much for its urban and architectural qualities as for its functionality and its objectives in terms of innovation and sustainable development ”, explains Bruno Pavlovsky , President of Chanel and its fashion activities. “ Our goal is to ensure that this exceptional heritage of crafts at the crossroads of the cultural influence of Paris and the societal challenges of fashion continues and develops. ”
Crafts in residence
The program then unveils a residence of 11 houses and crafts in a very theatrical and staged device to discover the know-how and materialize the exceptional and tailor-made work of these embroiderers, hat makers, bootmakers and other hands that make the extraordinary signature of Parisian creation.
Among them, we find Erès , Lesage , Maison Michel or Atelier Montex who do not hesitate to speak out around workshops and participatory happenings with the public.
A gallery designed by the GGVS studio
Special feature of this iconoclastic and avant-garde gallery designed by the GGVS studio : the choice to deploy a collective and participative vision, which brings together a community of artists, partner schools and solidarity actors: “ Our idea was to put the excellence of the hand at the service of upcycling. We wanted to give new life to recycled materials and objects by enhancing them thanks to the know-how of the crafts of furnishing ”, explain its founders Gaëlle Gabillet and Stéphane Villard .
To round off the experience: a shop designed by the Réserve des arts and a bookstore round off the visit. And, very quickly, a coffee. In short: the must-go not to be missed under any circumstances.
Exhibition by reservation required online until May 7, Wednesday to Saturday from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.
