Morozov Collection: the exhibition which causes a sensation at the Louis Vuitton Foundation

The Morozov Collection in paris

It is the most anticipated retrospective of this new school year. For the first time since its creation at the end of the 19th century, the Morozov collection , one of the most important art collections in the world, leaves Russia.

A big blow for the Louis Vuitton Foundation and France, after tough negotiations led by Bernard Arnault and Emmanuel Macron with Vladimir Poutine .

In total, more than 200 works from the largest museums in Russia ( The Hermitage of Saint Petersburg , the Pushkin Fine Arts and the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow ) relocated to Paris. Suffice to say that we will have to take your places dare-dare .

An extraordinary collection

Renoir and Gaugin paintings exhibitions

Definitely, art and geopolitics are never very far away! It is a route of masterpieces never before presented in the western bloc that awaits visitors. And for good reason: this extraordinary collection was put together by the magnates Ivan and Mikhail Abramovich Morozov before the Russian revolution, then confiscated by the former USSR.

At the time, collectors appealed to the most highly regarded Parisian art dealers of the time - Paul Durand-Ruel , George Bernheim or Eugène Druet - to bring together European masters of Impressionist and modern art. Without forgetting the big Russian names.

Paintings never before seen by the public
