Picasso squats the Atelier des Lumières

Pablo Picasso arrives at the Atelier des Lumières! The leading artist of Cubism, to whom we owe the emblematic Guernica, is the new muse of the iconic immersive exhibition hall in Paris. The event is set from February 14 to June 29, 2025, showcasing a superb work on the various paintings, sculptures, and photographs of the Spanish artist. A true arty experience to book urgently.

Dive into the works

No need for introductions: the Atelier des Lumières immediately propels visitors into the most beautiful works of the exhibited artists. The projection hall stands as a true space where one feels like floating between the floor, balcony, and cistern, giving the impression of being truly immersed in the artworks.

The creations of Picasso caress the walls, enveloping us in their colors and their so-characteristic brushstrokes. The paintings depicting bullfighting scenes or the distorted and colorful women (instantly recognizable!) follow one another around us, alongside the iconic Guernica and Les Demoiselles d’Avignon. The Atelier des Lumières also pays tribute to a lesser-known part of Picasso’s work: his theater sets and sculptures. The audience is immersed as if in a theater hall, witnessing the transitions between the sublime painted sets and the images of his sculptures that filled his workshop.

Complementarity between sound and light

The highlight of the Atelier des Lumières projections is the true complementarity between the animated visuals and the carefully curated playlist. A piece by Camille Saint-Saëns dramatizes the bullfighting scenes, while an excerpt from the La La Land soundtrack illustrates Picasso’s nocturnal and romantic paintings.

This new projection by the Atelier des Lumières is a true favorite. Much longer than the previous exhibitions, it allows an almost total immersion into the works and the universe of the Spanish artist. The song selection perfectly enhances the technical prowess of the projection and image animation: we leave the Atelier des Lumières with beautiful tracks to play on repeat… including the La La Land soundtrack!

Picasso, l’Art en Mouvement, at the Atelier des Lumières, 38 Rue Saint-Maur, Paris 11th. From February 14 to June 29, 2025.
